1. What is anemia?
Anemia is a phenomenon in which the amount of hemoglobin and the number of red blood cells in the peripheral blood is reduced, leading to a lack of oxygen supply to the tissues, in which hemoglobin is the most important. The circulating hemoglobin level is lower than that of a healthy person, so anemia is essentially a deficiency in the amount of hemoglobin in the circulating blood. Anemia is a common syndrome, especially when having blood diseases.
2. Symptoms of anemia
Diagnosis of anemia syndrome must be based on the usual clinical symptoms:
- Feeling of ringing in the ears, dizziness, or lightheadedness often or changing positions and with exertion. You may even pass out, especially when you have a lot of anemia.
- The patient has headaches, memory loss, insomnia and mood changes, or irritability.
- The patient has anorexia, bloating, abdominal pain, loose stools or constipation.

In addition, patients can self-identify:
- Pale mucous membranes, pale skin, or possibly tan. Especially clear in the position of thin, white skin such as the face, palm... or in the mucous membranes of the eyes, lips, tongue, palate...
- Loss of hair, brittle nails...
- Tachycardia and ischemic systolic murmur may be present. If anemia goes undetected and untreated for a long time, it can lead to heart failure.
3. Subjects at risk of anemia
The danger elements:
- People with inadequate nutrition, lack of iron, vitamin B12, folate.
Having an intestinal disorder that leads to poor absorption of nutrients in the small intestine.
- Women during menstruation or during pregnancy.
- Patients with chronic diseases: cancer, kidney failure, liver failure...
- Family history of hereditary blood diseases.
- Other factors: history of infections, blood diseases, autoimmune disorders, alcoholism, drug use... also cause anemia.
4. Doctor's advice
Avoid anemia and overcome anemia by
- Eating hygienic, scientific, full of ingredients and nutrients necessary for the body.
- Build a balanced living and working regime.
- Exercise regularly to improve health.
- Women need to pay attention to the menstrual cycle, pregnant women need to take iron supplements, eat iron-rich foods if lacking.
- Do not let anemia persist. If you have symptoms of anemia, you should listen to your body and do a blood test and do a blood test immediately.
- Annual health check-up is recommended.
