When Hoang Lien Son province was separated into 2 provinces Yen Bai and Lao Cai, Yen Bai province established the companies Yen Bai I Pharmaceutical, Yen Bai II Pharmaceutical, and Yen Bai Pharmaceutical Enterprise.

The predecessor of YPHARCO is Hoang Lien Son Pharmaceutical Complex, established in 1983.
